Darlington's Online Professional Development Site -During this course you will learn a variety of technology tools for work and in the classroom. The course has been developed in sections providing instructions and videos to learn the tools more thoroughly.
The "23 Things" are doable learning activities related to Web 2.0 tools and concepts. You will complete 2-3 "Things" per week. Detailed instructions for completing each "Thing" will be provided as you work through the course, linked from the "23 Things" page. Each "Thing" will introduce (or expand upon) a new tool or concept through one or more discovery exercises, followed by a learning task. The discovery exercises are "where the learning really happens" and are necessary for you to complete each task successfully.

iPads & ePubs in the Classroom - Atlanta, GA- June 14-15, 2012 - This session will focus on effective iPad integration from both a conceptual as well as a practical standpoint. It begins with understanding what the iPad device provides and how to maximize its features. The workshop also includes helpful iPad "tips and tricks," the best apps to boost productivity and ensure smooth workflow, and a look at some of the most intriguing educational apps that leverage the device's creative potential. Participants will learn how to create and distribute PDF and eBook documents to the iPad and will experiment with various iPad apps and web tools such as iBooks Author, Joliprint, and dotePub, that can be used to read and annotate digital content directly on the iPad. Finally, it outlines some of the effective ways that K-8 educators are already integrating the iPad in their classrooms, as well as how to create new, custom curriculum content specifically for the device.
Teaching the Elementary Grades with Technology - Atlanta, GA - June 11-13, 2012- Explore online tools and activities that nurture essential K-4 developmental skills and highlight innovative educational uses of the Read-Write Web. We'll show how primary school teachers are using blogs, wikis, podcasts, tablets, interactive whiteboards, and other tools to create meaningful and engaging activities. In addition, we will examine the best K-4 web sites, work with innovative tools to help improve student reading, writing, and mathematics, and learn different strategies to build creative, collaborative, and community minded classrooms.
